Staying Sane Whilst Working Remotely

The change to a more permanent remote working schedule has been very drastic for many of us, particularly if it’s a newer experience, and it’s no secret that there have been plenty of links between the change to doing so and issues motivation and concentration. As we spend more time working remotely however, there are a growing number of tips and tricks becoming available from those who have been doing so for much longer to ensure you can stay on task and take care of your own positive mental health whilst doing so – so how can you ensure you’re keeping a great frame of mind whilst working remotely?

A home-work life balance – One of the biggest challenges for many whilst shifting to remote working particularly if done from home is the feeling that you’re never really leaving work – you may wake up and get started on your tasks and find yourself working much later than usual. One of the best pieces of advice available is to find a way to make some separation so you don’t feel as if you’re trapped at work when the day is done – by moving to less visited space in your home and setting up your dedicated office there, you’re able to train yourself to know you’re at work whilst in  this specific space, and that your day is over and you’re back at home when you leave that space.

A little fresh air – With lockdown measures many of us have been restricted to only a small amount of exercise or time outside per day, but this little can certainly go a long way. A great benefit to remote working is all of the flexibility that comes along with it, if you feel you’re getting a little frustrated during the day and need a small break, getting up and going for some fresh air can certainly help prep you up, and as you don’t need to be as strict with your time as you usually would have to be in the office, and may certainly help you along on the tougher days.

Small hobby breaks – Engaging in your hobbies would be frowned upon in the office setting but with the ability to choose your own breaks and have all of the flexibility allows you to break the day up to suit your working style much better – some hobbies are certainly able to fit in to small time windows too as things such as gaming that have become popular over the past year through online casinos with credit cards still accepted being amongst the most played despite efforts from initiatives such as Gamstop to reduce players for example – whatever your hobby may be, if you find time to fit it in during the day without it having an negative impact on your work it can do the opposite and certainly help change your mood and improve your productivity and morale in the home work setting – give it a try and see if it helps you!
